As a Certified Zentangle Teacher I often get asked about storage for the ‘step outs’ for Tangles as it’s rather time consuming to draw a grid pattern, page after page, so I designed this ‘Tic Tac Toe’ style plastic stencil for those who use sketchbooks to draw and store their Tangles. My aim was to create a uniform grid pattern stencil that my students can use with either a pen or pencil and without the need for time consuming measuring but making sure each page matches the page before etc, so I decided to make two designs, this ones fits perfectly over the top of the standard size Zentangle Tiles and the Sakura square sketchbook.

There are 4 parts to this stencil, with the overall size of 140x140mm, 14x14cms. The largest of the inner squares that measures 115x115mm, 11.5x11.5cms and fits over the top of an Apprentice size Zentangle Tile. The next size down, measures 90x90mm, 9x9cms and fits over the top of a standard size Zentangle Tile, with x9 smaller squares which have been spaced to form a grid pattern with each small square measuring 24x24mm, 2.4x2.4cms.

Over the top of the grid there is a ‘Title line’ that has been cut out so you can use this to include the Tangle name, Designer and or the date, which measures 90mm, 9cms.

This stencil is ideal for use in a sketchbook to create uniform ‘step out’ grids so you can form your Tangle library or also for use on a Tile.
