Mix It Up – Black Mandala Workshop

In this striking and creative workshop, we’ll explore the beauty of drawing mandalas on black cardstock using white, metallic and coloured Gelly Roll pens.

Working on a dark background creates a completely different effect to traditional white paper, allowing colours and metallic details to really shine. During the session, we’ll begin by creating a base mandala template in pencil before selecting two or three coordinating Gelly Roll pen colours to build your own unique design.

I’ll guide you through a variety of techniques specifically suited to working on black cardstock, including layering, contrast, highlighting and creating depth using white, silver, gold and metallic tones. The finished results are bold, elegant and wonderfully eye-catching.

The workshop includes a basic materials kit containing:

• Black cardstock
• Pencil
• White Gelly Roll pen

I will also bring along a selection of coloured and metallic Gelly Roll pens for students to use during the session.

You’re very welcome to bring along any favourite pens, pencils or art supplies from home that you’d like to incorporate into your artwork.

Additional materials and supplies can be purchased prior to the workshop if required.
