Imaginative Initials Workshop

In this creative 2-hour workshop, we’ll combine lettering and tangling to create beautiful decorative initials full of detail, flow and personality.

You’ll learn how to draw and structure your chosen initial on a 10x10cm Tile before exploring how to add tangles both inside and around the letterform. I’ll guide you through choosing patterns that enhance the shape of the initial and help make it the focal point of the design.

I especially love using flowing, floral-inspired tangles that weave both in front of and behind the letters to create depth and movement, and I’ll bring along a variety of example pieces for inspiration throughout the session.

This class includes all Tiles needed for the workshop. Please remember to bring your basic toolkit from previous classes, including:

• Micron fine liner pen
• Pencil
• Tortillion/blending stump

These tools are essential for the class.

You’re also very welcome to bring along any favourite pens, pencils or creative supplies from home that you’d like to experiment with.

Additional tools and supplies will be available to purchase on the day if needed.
